White Belt
Beginning / Innocence
Represents a blank slate with no prior knowledge of Taekwondo. The student is open to learning and beginning their martial arts journey.
Yellow Belt
Foundation
Stands for the earth from which a plant sprouts. The student is laying the groundwork by learning basic techniques and concepts.
Orange Belt
Awakening / Energy Rising
Represents the sun warming the earth and stimulating growth. The student begins to understand and apply fundamental skills.
Green Belt
Growth
Symbolizes a plant beginning to grow. The student’s skills are improving, and coordination and balance are developing.
Blue Belt
Expansion / Sky

Purple Belt
Transition / Growth in Action
Indicates progress from beginner to intermediate. Techniques become smoother, and confidence grows.

Danger / Power with Responsibility
Represents danger: the student has significant power and must use it wisely. Emphasis on self-control and respect.
Brown Belt
Maturity / Grounded Strength
Symbolizes ripening or maturing. Techniques are sharp, controlled, and ready for advanced application.
Black Belt
Mastery & New Beginning
Not the end, but the start of a deeper journey. The student has solid technique, discipline, and now begins learning at a higher level.
